Can I upgrade the Maxi-Jet 900 Pump Maxi-Jet 1200? 10pts?
I bought a Nano Remora Protein Skimmer that came with a Maxi-Jet 900 pump, but I'm upgrading from a 25-gallon tank to a tank of 75 gallons. Can I change the pump to a Maxi-Jet 1200? Does the skimmer is still working properly?
Protein Skimmers was designed to adjust water flow through the funnel. You were given the maxi jet 900 for a reason, the powerful flow of the cup overflow which may present some problems. Each protein skimmers has a maximum size of a tank, if the protein skimmer does not match the new size of the tank, it is best to sell your protein skimmer and upgrade to a larger vessel protein. Not all protein skimmers are well, some protein skimmers can buy or upgrade the powerhead or pump, but some others can not. Because some can only handle so much pressure, or GPH, if you go beyond that, it can present some problems, so the best bet is to find the most gallons per hour your protein skimmer can handle before deciding whether you could buy a new pump or not.
